[Burning Japan 2019 is happening!]

October 12 (Saturday) through October 14 (Monday, a holiday), 2019,
Burning Japan 2019 will again be held at Tsumagoi Farm in Gunma!
The art theme of the 6th edition is “Hidden World.”

Do you know the Hidden World?

It is, just as the name says, a hidden world.

A picture book of fairy tales you read when you were small.
A song you heard hundreds of times and cannot forget.
Words a philosopher from before the common era left behind.
The place a river is born, on the walk you always take.

There are countless entrances, but the eye cannot see them.

You want to go?

Let me tell you something good.
What you are looking for is always somewhere very near.

Turn toward the expression that wells up from inside you, without being led astray by theories or custom.
Help one another and recognize one another, rather than weighing profit and loss.
What you forgot, somewhere in ordinary life, is the key that opens the door to the hidden world.

Three days on SKY ISLAND.
Many people come, carrying the key to the Hidden World.
Many expressions, many stories, and shadows wavering in the rising flame trace the outline of a Hidden World the eye cannot see.

<What Burning Japan is>

It is a local event of Japan’s own, held with the same vision as Burning Man, the world’s largest unique event, which takes place in Nevada in the United States.

Each participant takes part as someone who expresses, rather than remaining a spectator, relating to others by giving to one another rather than by buying and selling. It is a new kind of unique camping event born of “self-expression and gifting.”
Along with artworks, performance, and music, you bring everything needed for daily life during the event, build an imaginary city, and finish by leaving it clean again, as it was.

Whether this is your first time or you have come before, we look forward to seeing you at the venue!
