Getting there

When and where

Five days. Builders' Week, when theme camps and art put the ground down, was 3–7 October in 2026. Build days and gate hours for 2027 are not published. They will be posted here and on Discord. The event has generally run in the rain. A disaster can still move or cancel it.

How to get there

A dusty lane between camps.

Car or motorcycle

About three hours from Tokyo. The standing route is Kan-etsu and Joshin-etsu toward Usui-Karuizawa, then the Manza Highway. The Shiga-Kusatsu road via Kusatsu is sometimes closed at night. Check before you leave. Parking is a separate ticket. In 2026, parking meant around 750 people.

Train or bus

JR Agatsuma Line to Manza-Kazawaguchi, then a Seibu bus about 21 minutes to Tsumagoi Bokujo / Aisai no Kane. About three buses a day, and the timetable moves with the season. Check Seibu before you travel. Rideshares, and help with water or gear for people on the train, are arranged on Discord.

Walking in from the parking lot

The walk from the parking lot follows the shoulder of a toll road built for cars. At night you need a headlamp. A phone light is not enough. Keep to the shoulder and out of the lane. A crash there can end the event that night. The survival guide has the fuller warning.

On site

A 2027 placement map is not ready yet. The facilities below are what the ranch has had, including in 2026. None of them replaces what you carry in.

Medical

There is a first-aid post. It does not dispense drugs. Bring your own medicines. For an emergency, call 119. Past Tsumagoi years pointed people to Nishi-Agatsuma Welfare Hospital, Haramachi Red Cross, and Saku Central Hospital. Numbers can change.

Toilets

Portable toilets are on site. There is no dish pit. Greywater and trash leave with you.

Water

There is no drinking tap. Some years there was non-potable water. In 2026, people who came by train had drinking-water support. By car, plan on roughly 3 liters of drinking water per person per day.

Info and rangers

There are no ushers. Agree to meet at Center Camp. Rangers (patrol volunteers) walk the site, and you can ask them when you are stuck. Gate is where you check in.

Power

Open camping has no grid power. In 2026, generators and propane were forbidden in open camping. Portable power stations were allowed. There are no streetlights. A headlamp is how you walk at night.

What is missing

There is no food, no shop, no trash cans, and no lockers. Plan as if your phone will not connect. Onsen are off site. Manza and Kusatsu are the near ones.
