Report: Tsumagoi Site Visit | Venue Prep and Getting Ready for SummerBurn
Shown in English. Dates and “on sale” lines belong to the day the notice was published.
Last weekend we made a site trip to Tsumagoi Ranch, the venue for Burning Japan.
The three who left late at night were tjmaxx, kazz, and yu. They stayed from late Saturday night through Monday and did maintenance and prep on site.
Coming back to Tsumagoi Ranch after a while, the quiet of an empty place felt strangely moving. A place that had been so full of people now had nothing there — that stayed with us. In their place, the ranch cows came out to meet us.

The weather stayed clear the whole time, and 26°C in the daytime was very comfortable.
The ranch has nothing to block the sun, though, so it did feel hot in direct sunlight.
At night it dropped to 12°C, a temperature that reminded us how welcome a campfire is.
Purpose of this trip
- Review the venue layout on site
- Start using the on-site warehouse (cleaning, putting up shelves, bringing supplies in)
- Build a prototype bridge to set over the U-ditch
- Check the parking space on site
Reviewing the venue layout
On site we checked the route for moving the barbed wire, where to place the toilets, and how to use the parking space.
With space, convenience, and safety in mind, we want to make a place that feels better for participants.

Building a prototype U-ditch bridge
One problem last year was people falling into the U-ditch, so this year we will install bridges.
We built a prototype first and checked its strength and stability.
For the event we plan to install five bridges, each just under 3 meters. We will also put LED lighting along the whole U-ditch, to make it easier to see and safer.

Starting to use the warehouse
We cleaned the on-site warehouse we are borrowing from this year, put up simple shelves, and started using it.

We stored lumber, tools, operations supplies, and more.
This warehouse is meant to take in theme-camp and art materials at SummerBurn in August and hold them until Burning Japan itself.
The next on-site event is “SummerBurn”
The next Tsumagoi trip is “SummerBurn,” held August 9–11.
The main purpose is to bring theme-camp and art cargo into the warehouse we just set up and store it there. It is also an open event where anyone can experience Tsumagoi Ranch in summer.
On the cool highland, let’s keep preparing together while enjoying DJs, a campfire, fireworks, and more!
