Burning Japan 2021 Has Ended Safely

Burning Japan 2021 was held safely from July 22 to 25. The site was fully cleared at 2:00 p.m. on the 26th, and we were able to end a long-awaited four-day burn without a major accident. I think everyone saw it for themselves: the energy we had felt from participants before the event came fully alive on site, and it became a very passionate burn.

The total number of participants, including organizers, was 177. To those who cancelled at the last minute because they were unwell: we are sorry you could not come, and thank you for cooperating. Care for people who were injured or ill on site stayed within what the first-aid room could cover, and no one was transported to a medical facility. Please keep looking after your health after the event. If you learn within two weeks that you have contracted the coronavirus, contact us right away.

Almost no trash or other belongings were left in the camping areas. What gave us the most trouble was cleaning up after the phoenix. We will gather what we learned this time and carry it into the next event. Thank you to every group that brought a theme camp, and to everyone who used the solo camping area and left no trace.

This event could not have happened without the cooperation of the venue, Yugawara Onsen Campground. We thank them here.

Lost items are shared as photos in an album. If you own something in it, please contact us by email or on Discord.

We explained this at entry and participants accepted it: for Burning Japan 2021, August 1 is the day when photos and videos may be posted on social media. For now you will probably see photos only in exchanges among family and friends, or hardly see them at all. Please wait a little longer.

The next online Meetup is on Discord, from 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 29. Let’s talk about this year’s burn!
