Burning Japan 2024 has come to a successful close. It was the first return to Tsumagoi Ranch in five years. Blessed with good weather, and in a vast, open space, wonderful art, experiences, and memories were born through everyone’s participation, and the event became a memorable one.

Thanks to your creativity and the work you did together, we were able to make this unique event a success and build a special community. Heartfelt thanks to every participant, volunteer, artist, and theme camp who made it with us! 🎉

Ideas for next time are already starting to be heard, and we feel an energy unlike an ordinary year. We will announce 2025 soon, so please wait just a little.

More adventure and growth are waiting, with Burning Japan as the starting point. Finally, we share a message from Toma as a step toward what comes next. ✨

Message from Toma / @Fck camp

You took part in a Burn for the first time, and you have officially become someone called a “Burner”!

At first you may feel overwhelmed, and you may not yet have noticed the rich culture behind it. Please look further on the internet: learn about the 10 Principles of a Burn, Burner terminology, Burns held around the world, and how to start or join a theme camp of your own in 2025. You can also join the Burning Japan organization as a volunteer.

Some people joined the organization straight from their first time! In just one year, I launched one of the largest theme camps at Burning Japan.

Burners form a global community on the scale of hundreds of thousands of people. Practicing the 10 Principles outside a Burn can be difficult, but Gifting (the spirit of giving) and Communal Effort are still a precious part of the lifestyle for many Burners. When you travel, look for Burner forums and connect with people who share similar values. They will surely be glad to meet you, and they will help you during your trip.

Burns are held in countries around the world and in states of the United States. Some are smaller than Burning Japan, and some are larger. When you travel, check whether a Burn or a Burner-related event is happening nearby. Each Burn has its own culture and its own approach to the 10 Principles, but at any Burn you can meet people who are interesting, full of art, and sometimes a little eccentric. Burners love to count how many Burns they have joined. Some people go to more than 20 Burns a year!

You might also aim for Burning Man, held in Nevada. Life in the desert is harsh, so plan carefully. We also recommend joining the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/535445929202946/ People Coming to Burning Man 2025 | Facebook

Burning Japan is always looking for volunteers. Throughout the year, an online meeting is held once every two weeks to discuss the art theme, grants, the event process, ticket pricing, publicity, and more. This year in particular, Greeters, orientation hosts, and workshop leaders are in short supply during the event.

Finally, theme camps are the core of Burning Japan. A Burn cannot exist without theme camps. Theme camps offer all kinds of experiences, including yoga, midnight grilled cheese, and dance parties. Camps differ in size, cost, conditions for joining, and style, so join one somewhere or create your own. Many camps are always recruiting participants, and making your own camp is a special experience. Burning Japan holds sessions throughout the year to support building a camp, so please share your ideas and ask questions.
