Micro Art Grant 2022

Shown in English. Dates and “on sale” lines belong to the day the notice was published.

Burning Japan covers each event's necessary costs from ticket sales alone, and for years we had wanted to start an art grant as one way to give something back to participants in the community.

In 2022 it looked like we could avoid a deficit, so we began with a small Micro Art Grant. This time, art projects that had filed an art registration were eligible. Using about 150,000 yen in total — roughly 5 percent of operating costs — as a guide, we called for grants of 10,000 to 50,000 yen per work. The window was short, but seven art projects applied. Thank you for answering questions that ranged widely, from the scale of the work and the budget to how the grant would be used, and even to ideas for supporting artists from here on.

Below are the projects that received a grant after a careful review. Congratulations!
