Recruiting Members for the BJ2018 Executive Committee

We at Burning Japan are now preparing for the event in the autumn of 2018, and we will post updates as the details are decided.

We are opening recruitment for members of the “BJ2018 Executive Committee”!
What is the “BJ2018 Executive Committee”?
At Burning Japan we want to say more clearly, and in the open, “how is this actually run?” and “how can someone be involved from the preparation stage?”, so that many different people can be involved in many different ways.
So we are recruiting people to help us hold this year’s Burning Japan!!

■ Number of people
A. Executive committee chair, and treasurer: one each
B. Each of the six divisions: at least two people each

■ Schedule from here (provisional)
During March: recruit the executive committee, and a face-to-face kickoff
April: visit the venue
March through autumn: preparation (when and how often depends on the division)
Autumn: Burning Japan is held
December: a look-back gathering that also serves as a review
January 2019: recruit the next members (BJ2019)

■ What you receive
As before, we do not plan to pay an hourly rate for volunteer time, but necessary expenses are reimbursed at cost from the event budget. Burning Japan runs with no sponsors, only subtracting actual costs from ticket income.
For members, thanks take a form other than an hourly wage, such as access to the venue when you take part in the event, and a meal after a shift. We hope to gift something that really lands, precisely because of that time, that place, and that form.

First deadline: Tuesday, March 27, 2018

This time we published the criteria for every role, including the executive committee chair, so you can see how the committee is put together.
“Are you really looking for every member from zero, starting now?! Isn’t it a high bar to take this on alone?”
…Please do not worry about that!

We would be glad if you think of it this way: the people who have carried Burning Japan so far are looking for a new wind.
