Volunteers Needed

🔥 Volunteer Camp: Come Build Your Burn

Burning Japan is built entirely by volunteers. Every team: DBK (site build), Gate, Mimawari (Rangers-like), Medical, LNT (cleanup), Parking, Psycare, Media runs on people who show up and give their time.

🛠️ What volunteers actually do?

Depending on the team, a shift could mean, for example:

• Patrolling the grounds to catch problems early and make sure people feel safe (Mimawari)
• Greeting participants at check-in and helping first-timers find their way around
• Lighting the lanterns so the grounds stay safe to walk at night
• Holding the perimeter during a burn so everyone stays a safe distance back
• Picking-up trash so the site goes back to how we found it (LNT)
• Building and breaking down site infrastructure (DBK)

🙋Two ways to help:

• Day shift: sign up for a single shift whenever it suits you
• Join Volunteer Camp: commit to one 3h shift a day for the event by joining the Volunteer Team

If you join the Volunteer Camp, we take care of the basics for you. You’ll get: a tent, a shared kitchen, water and snacks, and a way to get to the station, onsen, or store when you need it.
Personal dishware, full meals, and bedding (futon/sleeping bag) aren’t included, so please bring your own.

If you’re nervous about coming alone, the Volunteer Camp is exactly the place for you. The shared kitchen and lounge make it easy to meet people between shifts, and before long you’ll have a whole crew of familiar faces.

English-only speakers are welcome too. You’ll be placed on a project that can accommodate English, or paired with bilingual volunteers.

✨We’re especially looking for:

• Mimawari (Rangers): patrol the grounds and help keep the burn safe.
• Team Leaders: run a team as a crew lead. Bilingual is a huge plus.
• Pre-event helpers: support work like handbook creation, before the event even starts
• First-timers: no experience needed. Just bring your energy!
